Does it cost anything to become a member of China Travel Companion?
No, the service is free.
Is it safe?
Meeting people on-line is now common practice and accepted as a safe way to meet travelling companions. It is a perfect way of learning a little about a person before you meet them, and is no less safe than meeting a stranger in a bar.
Are my details kept private?
Your password is kept private. It is only accessible to the China Travel Companion team and not to any other members. Your email is visible and accessible to registered users only.
How do I become a member?
Simply click on the "Register" button on the left and follow the on-screen instructions.
What is a "traveller"?
A traveller is a person who plans to visit places and who is interested in meeting other people (a "companion") or travel with other people (a "companion") during his travels.
What is a "companion"?
A companion is a person who wants to act as a guide, Travel Companion, travel companion to an interested traveller during his travels.
What is the "Flight Companion" program ?
The Flight Companion program is for travellers who dont't want to fly alone for a variety of reasons. For example because they are unfamiliar with flying and are looking for some help during check-in, the flight, flight and airport transfers, etc. Or because they don't want to fly alone or looking for company (drinks? date? ... you name it ...) during those long lay-overs and waiting times that are becoming more common these days.
Which services can I offer or expect?
You can offer/expect local language support, visits & tours to sight-seeing places, dinner companionship, places to stay, help during flight, airline check-in and flight transfers, etc.
Use the "Comments" field to specify what you offer or want. Please be as specific and concise as possible.
Where can I find the services offered (in case of a traveller) or requested (in case of a companion)?
A companion, guide or buddy can look through the travellers ads by clicking the label "Find Travellers" in the section on the left.
A traveller can look through the companion, guide, buddy ads by clicking the label "Find Travel Guides" in the section on the left.
For the Flight Companion Program, you can look for ads by clicking the label "Find Companion" in the Flight Companion section.
Click on the "User Name" in the table to see further details for each Ad.
How do I let people know what I want?
Post a "Enter Your Ad" in the "For Travellers" section on the left if you want to sollicit the services of a guide, buddy, companion.
Post a "Enter Your Ad" in the "For Companions" section on the left with your services to offer.
Post a "Enter Your Ad" in the "Fly Together" section on the left posting what you are looking for.
How do I select multiple items at a time in the select boxes for language ("registration" page), cities ("publish a travel of companion ad" page) ?
You can select multiple items a time by holding the <control> key while making your selections
Can I search for other members without registering?
Yes you can, but you won't have access to their email until you register.
How do I communicate with other members?
You communicate via your and their email address.
If I have a question for China Travel Companion who do I contact?
Use the contact link on the bottom of the screen. We will return your query as soon as possible.
What do I do if I forget my username or password?
If you forgot your password, please click on the link "Forgot Password" on the left and a new password will be sent to you
Can I update or edit my profile?
Upon log-in, you can view and update your profile through the link "My Profile" on the left.
Can I change or edit one of my ads?
Upon log-in, you can view, update or delete any of your ads through the link "My Ads" on the left.
